Last year听we hosted the inaugural and highly successful 萝莉视频 photo competition. We received over 400 entries from around the world and we were thrilled with the high-quality and unique images that were submitted by our members.

These images showcased the best of the veterinary profession, highlighting the bond between veterinarian and animal. The photographs showed a tangible insight into our members鈥� lives and promoted the huge variety of roles, locations and interests the profession has.

We are delighted to be hosting the photography competition again this year 鈥� the competition is open to anyone who is a 萝莉视频 member, you could win 拢250 in John Lewis vouchers and have your image displayed at the 2017 members鈥� day. Our categories are:

We would especially like to see native and domestic species found in the UK. Across both categories we鈥檇 like to see images that promote responsible animal ownership and/or interaction, as well positive animal health and welfare outcomes.

Egyptian fruit bat in flight

The winner of the 鈥榃onderful world of animals鈥� 2016 category was Stephen Powles, a companion animal vet from Devon, with his picture of an Egyptian fruit bat in flight.

鈥淭he bat was one of a large roost of many thousand deep in a cave on Mount Elgon, Kenya. The bats exit the roost via a relatively small opening making it the perfect location in which to photograph them.鈥�

Equine surgery - no foot, no horse

Equine vet Karen Coumbe won the 鈥榊ou and your work鈥� 2016 category with her photo of an operation on an infected horse鈥檚 hoof.

鈥淚 was encouraged to enter the competition because I am fascinated by the amazing things I am privileged to observe in my day to day work, many of which provide exciting photo-opportunities.鈥�
