Accreditation Framework themes

The following 18 themes make up the Great WorkplacesÌýFramework:Ìý

Health and Wellbeing

Encompassing all or parts of Health and WellbeingÌýand Workload and Flexibility in the Great Workplaces voluntary code

  1. Physical wellbeing:Ìýsupporting employees to work safely from a physical perspective, andÌýgenerally supporting colleagues to have good physical health.
  2. Psychological wellbeing:Ìýensuring employees behave with respect and kindness to colleagues and generally supporting employees to have good mental health.
  3. Managing work related stress:Ìýmaking the workplace less stressful and therefore more enjoyable for all.
  4. Work life balance:Ìýpromoting wellbeing by ensuring working life does not adversely impact on family and social life.
  5. Flexibility:Ìýadapting working patterns to enable employees to work effectively.



Leadership and ManagementÌý

Encompassing all or parts of Management and HR processes and Reward and Recognition in the Great Workplaces voluntary code:

  1. Effective communication: ensuring all information is shared appropriately and with transparency.
  2. Role clarity: enabling employees to perform well in the role they are trained for.
  3. Leader capability: helping Leaders to meet the needs of team members and the business.
  4. Performance conversations: ensuring employees are included in delivering performance goals.
  5. Recruitment: ensuring the right people are selected at the right time with appropriate support.
  6. Relationship management: creating and maintaining positive relationships with those inside and outside the workplace. This includes clients, customers, suppliers, and the array of stakeholders in charities, public and private sectors.

Culture

Encompassing all or parts of CultureÌýand Diversity, Equality and Fair Treatment in the Great Workplaces voluntary code:

  1. Teamwork: ensuring people work well together, both for effectiveness and inclusion.
  2. Positive culture: building a great place to work.
  3. Open and fair culture: encouraging a culture based on fairness, equity, inclusion, and diversity.




Learning and Development

Encompassing all or parts of Personal and Career Development in the Great Workplaces voluntary code:

  1. Learning for all: enabling employees and organisational performance to be better.
  2. Mentoring: ensuring all have the personal support to excel.
  3. Career development: providing opportunities for growth.
  4. Improvement focus: being transparent in the operational and business aspects of the workplace, allowing all to be included in improvement. It also includes how mistakes are handled, and in some cases used as opportunities to improve.Ìý
